United States Squad Announced For Upcoming Exhibitions

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

Later this month, the United States Men's National Soccer Team will play two exhibition games First, they'll play against Japan on the 23rd in Dusseldorf, Germany. A few days later, they play against Saudi Arabia in Spain. The team will begin training this coming Monday in Cologne.

The likes of Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Gio Reyna are on the roster along with several other exciting names. As far as Pulisic goes, things haven't been going well for him with Chelsea. But US supporters are hoping that international duty goes better for him. In Pulisic's case, staying healthy is crucial for him and the team. It's unfortunate that Timothy Weah is not part of the squad due to injury.

Ricardo Pepi being called up is a surprise considering he hasn't been doing so hot lately. However, Josh Sargent who plays for Norwich City is off to a great start in the 2022-23 English Football League Championship. Furthermore, Jesus Ferreira of FC Dallas has been tearing it up, having just scored his 18th goal of the season in FC Dallas' 2-1 win against LAFC last weekend.

No doubt, there's talent on this squad. The USMNT is going to need all the strength they can get going into Qatar in November. Team USA begins their World Cup campaign against Wales before taking on England and closing the group stage against Iran. The USMNT squad that will go to Qatar is to be announced on the 9th of November.
