Week 17 NFL Power Rankings: Buccaneers and Rams Enter Top 10

Super Bowl Favorites

Call Lamar Jackson the MVP all you want, this defense is the real deal and the primary reason the Ravens find themselves at the top of the league. Their keys to success? They hold teams to the least touchdowns scored and have the most takeaways. Combine that with a league-low seven interceptions thrown and the best rush attack and you get to be the favorite.

Don't count the 9ers out, but there is a small amount of worry after having their worst performance since before the BYE week. Brock Purdy looked sloppy. I expect this team to be fine against WAS and LAR to end the season. This is a good loss to bring them back to earth.

Super Bowl Contenders

The Cowboys are 10-1 in games they have a takeaway in. And in games where they lose the turnover battle: 1-5. Dak and the Boys played well against the Dolphins, but a great defense is useless against an elite offense that only needs a field goal.

The Dolphins are in prime position to make noise in the playoffs, we just have to see if their defense can keep up with the offense. Simply, this team lives and dies by how effectively they can score points. If Tua and McDaniel don't show up they won't win anything.

The Bills escaped their own incompetence against the Charges with a narrow win. I don't love the coaching here, which might see a change if they go nowhere in the playoffs.

Super Bowl Hopefuls

THE LIONS ARE YOUR 2023 NFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!

(r.i.p Detroit Pistons, sacrifices had to be made.)

Baker Mayfield is on pace for 4'078 yards (Career-high) 29 passing TDs (Career-high) a 96.2 passer rating (Career-high) and a 64.3 Cmp% (Career-high). The Buccs like to take the ball from their opponents and not let them take it back, ever.

Playoff Favorites

In the past five weeks, the Rams have the best scoring offense in the league, averaging 32.4 ppg. Oh, and they're 4-1 over that span only losing to the Ravens.

This is what happens when you sign a legendary all-time great QB like Joe Flacco. You win games. Amari Cooper had a day, 265 yds, and two scores.

I don't understand the hype for Philadelphia. Tyrod Taylor almost beat them. The Refs bail them out constantly. They turn the ball over WAY more than an "elite" offense should.

If C.J. Stroud plays, they’ll make the playoffs and maybe win the division. If he doesn’t play then better luck and health for everyone next year. the future is bright.

They were so close to greatness. This is just what happens when the Steelers realize that they might have a losing season. It's black magic and unfortunate. Makes you wish Joe Burrow could’ve rested when he was only minorly injured.

They had a good run. The rest of the division is too sad to take the crown from them but, it's over, for now.

I dream of a world where the New Orleans Saints aren’t coached by a bag of rocks.

Mason Rudolph is in talks to be named the greatest Steelers QB of all time. George Pickens is in talks to be named the greatest Steelers WR of all time.

The Seahawks played steller against a mediocre Titans team, thanks to Geno Smith coming back into the starting lineup. The defense is still bad, which makes their hopes of a playoff win look bleak considering they'll play DET, PHI, or SF.

Playoff Hunt

Injuries have hurt this season, but no matter where they end up finishing it's safe to say this year was successful. Get healthy and load up for next year. Similar to the Texans.

Any time a team wins a close game against the Panthers I get a little concerned for them. Nonetheless, a win is a win and this keeps them in the tight playoff race, even if your defense made Bryce Young look great.

I could honestly write the exact same thing for all three AFC South teams and it still fit. Key injuries hurt them this week. Lost an important and winable game. They’re on a four-game skid which makes me worried for next week's matchup against Carolina.

Two weeks ago I said all Mullen had to do was manage the game and not throw picks. Since then he's lost two close and winnable games throwing six picks in the process. Still, he has an 86.3 rating. I believe Kirk Cousins would be in MVP talks if he was healthy.

No Man's Land

Russel Wilson getting benched means they are officially throwing in the towel. The ride might be over.

Taylor Heinicke should've been starting from the beginning. Atlanta should just focus on developing their young stars. Desmond Ridder is not one of those young stars.

A loss to the Cardinals would have locked up the first-overall pick for them. But who wants to lose to the Arizona Cardinals?

Ah yes, the old "0 passing yards after the first quarter and still win against a playoff team" strategy. 2021 Bill Belichick would be proud.

Only losing by two to a top-5 team after their performance the week prior is hopeful.

Develop Will Levis, it's over for Ryan Tannehill.

This team is bad, but keeping up with the Eagles says a lot. They’re both bottom 5 in offense and defense. I believe they should continue to start Tommy DeVito, he still looks promising.

Playing for the Draft

I'm not surprised this team won against Washington, even with Trevor Siemian playing as badly as he did. Breece Hall put the team on his back.

This team is in prime position to get a great prospect in the draft, without replacing Kyler Murray.

Bailey Zappe is HIM! (He's probably losing his job to Maye or Daniels next year.)

Hopeless

Congrats to the Panthers for only losing to the Packers by 3, and for Bryce Young looking great despite having below-average receivers.

The Jets had the right game plan against them, if it was anyone other than Siemian threw 49 passes they would've had 40+ points scored on them instead of a Commander below-average 30.
