Vince McMahon steps down as WWE Chairman and CEO amid investigations

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

It's been a crazy week for pro wrestling fans. Suddenly, news regarding Vince McMahon began flooding all over social media. On Wednesday, it was reported that World Wrestling Entertainment's board was conducting an investigation about a $3 million settlement McMahon made to a former WWE employee which whom he allegedly had an affair with.

McMahon has relinquished his duties and responsibilities and it's expected to stay that way until the investigation officially concludes. His daughter Stephanie is expected to assume the roles of CEO and Chairwoman on an interim basis. It seems that the situation also involves WWE's Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis

McMahon acknowledged that he intends to cooperate with the investigation. As far as Laurinaitis goes, rumor has it he is expected to depart the company. In McMahon's case, he has faced allegations of sexual misconduct before. Furthermore, in 1994, McMahon went to trial in that infamous steroid scandal but was eventually acquitted of the charges.

The company's future is currently complicated. Its future is certainly unknown, but until the investigation is complete, there's nothing to go on. For the time being, fans will have to wait and see. No doubt, the situation is a major cause for concern.

WWE's Money in the Bank event is scheduled to take place on July 2nd.
