Ravens Defense Came to Dominate Against the Browns

The Baltimore Ravens put on a clinic Sunday, dismantling the Cleveland Browns in a dominant performance that showcased the full strength of their team. Lamar Jackson was electric, orchestrating the offense with precision and athleticism, connecting on key passes while using his trademark legs to keep the Browns’ defense off balance. His leadership and explosive playmaking fueled a relentless ground attack that kept Baltimore in control from the opening drive to the final whistle.

Meanwhile, the Ravens’ defense was equally impressive, shutting down Cleveland’s offense at every turn. They applied constant pressure, forced turnovers, and effectively neutralized the Browns’ key playmakers, giving Jackson and the offense plenty of opportunities to build and maintain a comfortable lead. This comprehensive victory not only solidifies Baltimore’s position as a top contender but also sends a warning across the league: when the Ravens are firing on all cylinders, they’re a force few can match.

Offense

Lamar Jackson shined, in the second half. In the first half, he looked off target but still managed some spectacular throws, completing 19 of 29 pass attempts for 225 yards and four touchdowns—still a good outing for QB1. The run game was stalled, with Derrick Henry only getting 23 yards total. A disappointment from the Bills' performance, where he ran for 175 yards. But here is my excuse for Henry: the Browns always know how to stop the run against the Ravens, and they always manage to do it. It's just in the Browns' nature to do so. So I expect Henry to have a bounce-back game against the Lions on Monday Night. But the real surprise was WR Devontez Walker, who had only had two receptions, but both were for long touchdowns, making a statement for the 2025 training camp standout. Overall, there are a few items the Ravens still need to address, but even out of rhythm, Lamar still slammed the door on any fourth-quarter comebacks.

Defense

Defense really was the main reason the Ravens secured the win. Nnamdi Madubuike secured another sack in this game, as did Tavius Robinson. Nate Wiggins almost had a pick-six on Joe Flacco, but was tackled in the red zone. But an interception is still an interception. The player of the game (and AFC Defensive Player of the Week, mind you) was Roquan Smith, who ended the game with eight tackles and a forced fumble that he brought back to the endzone. This game for Smith was a statement: to silence any doubt on his conditioning and playing level. Our defense was the main reason for the win on Sunday, and hopefully, they can maintain this pace.

My Thoughts

The offense seemed out of touch. Mind you,u Lamar still scored touchdowns, but the run game could not get going. The offensive line got cooked by Myles Garrett, plain and simple. Daniel Faalele has become a liability that the Ravens need to address sooner rather than later. But defense really came through, and hopefully they can keep this pace as we go down the gauntlet.
