Michael Malone gets contract extension with Denver Nuggets

Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone agreed to a contract extension on Monday. The extension makes Malone on of the highest paid coaches in the NBA, according to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Malone has been with the Nuggets since the 2015-16 season. He has a 375-272 record and has led the Nuggets to five straight playoff appearances. In the playoffs he has a 37-31 record.Last year he led the Nuggets to their first ever championship.

Malone is the third- winningest coach in Nuggets history, behind George Karl (423 wins) and Doug Moe (432 wins). He is now the fourth longest tenured coach in the NBA, behind the San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich, the Miami Heats Erik Spoelstra, and the Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr.

The extension is good news for the Nuggets as they will continue to be a winning team. With Malone at the helm the Nuggets will be championship contenders every year. The Nuggets are currently 8-2 and lead the Western Conference. Expect them to make the playoffs for a sixth straight year and try to defend their title and win back to back championships.
