Former Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson finally has a new home. On Friday, the Baltimore Ravens signed Jackson to a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter and others. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Jackson was released by the Bears in February to clear up cap space. He has had to deal with foot injuries the last three years but has played in at least 12 games each year. Last year, he had one interception and 37 tackles in 12 games. In seven seasons with the Bears, he had 15 interceptions, 44 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles, and 459 tackles. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and earned All-Pro honors in 2018. He also has six defensive touchdowns, which ties him for third in Bears history.
Signing Jackson is a good move by the Ravens. Baltimore needed a safety after Geno Stone signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. Jackson will add some depth to the Ravens safety position, joining Marcus Williams and Kyle Hamilton, who was a first-team All-Pro last year. The Ravens also have Ar'Darius Washington, rookie Sanoussi Kane, and free agents Beau Brade and Jordan Toles. With the addition of Jackson, the Ravens now have one of the best, if not the best, safety trio in the NFL. The Ravens now have some flexibility in their secondary, meaning they can move people around to different positions if needed. Jackson gives the Ravens a huge upgrade to their defense and should be a huge asset for them.
