Newcastle United Triumphantly Returns to the Champions League After 20 Years!

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

Since 2003, to say Newcastle United has had some hard times would be a significant understatement. The club was relegated from the English Premier League in 2009 and again in 2016. Not long ago, the Magpies were fighting to avoid being relegated yet again. And now they're set to play in Europe's most competitive tournament next season.

Since the ownership change in October 2021, the club has been on a positive run. Earlier this season, the Magpies were runners-up in the EFL Cup as they lost to Manchester United in the final. Unfortunately, their 2022-23 FA Cup bid didn't end well, as they exited in the tournament's 3rd round. In April, the Magpies picked a 6-1 win over Tottenham and a 2-0 win over Manchester United.

The Magpies are looking to build on their momentum. For them to win the Champions League in 2024 can easily be dismissed as merely a pipe dream. However, there's no denying that the club can make a deep run in the tournament. Aside from a respectable run in the UCL, the Magpies are also hoping for a deep run in the FA Cup and possibly winning it for the first time since 1955.

Newcastle United hopes this is a start of an era of success. While a bright future possibly lies ahead of the club, it won't be easy for them moving forward. But as a team with a plethora of talent and a decent manager, the challenges ahead can motivate them to new heights.
